Shawn's
future wife (he wishes!) Danielle Peck stopped
by the Studio today to visit with Shawn Parr.

As a Southern California native, Shawn Parr
has had a long-term involvement with country music. He grew up in
Norwalk, CA and attended John Glenn
High School. Some of Shawn's early jobs included
being a waiter at Coco's and Bobby McGee's, as well as a club DJ
for a number of years before
landing his big radio break in Orange County,
where he did Middays and Mornings.
Soon after becoming the warm-up personality
for the TV show "Hot Country Nights",
and the announcer for the Academy of Country Music Awards, KZLA brought him on
board to do the Afternoon Drive which eventually lead him to the helm of the
KZLA Morning Show. Shawn Parr has long been considered a major champion of the
station and after a brief hiatus from radio, he came back to KZLA in 1999 where
you'll currently find him doing Middays and Sunday mornings.
In addition to his work at KZLA, Shawn is on the Board of Directors for the Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation and hosts his own annual golf tournament benefiting the John
Tracy Clinic. Shawn has expanded his career to include being the voice of the
Golden Globes, the American Music Awards, the California Speedway, numerous television
shows and commercials, voice-overs, and much more.
Shawn says his favorite place to hang out is at Balboa Park with his kids, but
you can also find him on the golf course. When he's not on the radio, Shawn's
favorite way to spend time includes being with his children and engaging in outdoor
sports such as fishing, motorcycle racing, baseball, basketball and jet skiing.
He even has an unofficial Shawn Parr Website which
contains wonderful photos you simply must see!
We asked Shawn what he would be if he weren't a DJ and he replied, "A professional
golfer on the P.G.A. Tour."
